At a private luncheon with the then 22 year old Farrah Gray, in South Carolina http://www.drfarrahgray.com we discussed his upcoming book after the very successful ”Reallionaire” which I always carry copies of to share with people.
Raised by a single parent in the impoverished south side of Chicago as the youngest of five children, Farrah Gray defied the odds to become a millionaire at the age of fourteen. He made his second million by sixteen and now inspires thousands through his speeches, writing, and consulting. His recipe for success: attitude, hustle, and an emphatic rejection of the most pervasive lies most of us believe about money and success.
In ”Get Real, Get Rich: Conquer the 7 Lies Blocking You From Success”, Farrah breaks down those seven lies one by one. Have you ever thought to yourself I’ll never be rich because I wasn’t born with connections, or a special talent? That’s The Born Lucky Lie. The truth is this: Luck is about showing up. He energetically encourages us to move beyond the lottery mentality. If you’ve convinced yourself that you must first have money to make money, then you’ve fallen prey to The Money Lie. In the real world, the path to millions starts with just one dollar, and Farrah can helps us find that first one. Perhaps you recognize yourself in one of these other misconceptions:
I have to hit it big in entertainment or sports to be rich (The Celebrity Lie).
I have to work hard and make sacrifices to be rich (The Work Hard Lie).
I have to have zero debt to be rich (The Debt Lie).
I have to be super smart or invent something the world relies on to be rich (The Google and Gates Lie).
I have to know a lot about the stock market or work on the Street to be rich (The Wall Street Lie).
In seven simple and provocative chapters blending inspiration and an actionable wealth building plan, Farrah lays out your road map to a richer life.
“Too many of us live paycheck to paycheck and pray that those compilations of books and CDs and DVDs will somehow lead us to ‘automatic wealth.’ News flash: There’s no such thing as automatic wealth - at least not in the real world. In this book, I’m not only going to share the mind-set you need to achieve all that you dream, but also the specific strategies that accompany that state of mind. I want to help you marshal out your own wealth potential, which relates to everything about you - not just your bank account.”
We can carefully look at what’s holding us back from the abundant life from the inside out and have a close encounter of the truthful kind.
We have a spiritual right to release any and everything that comes in to trash our mind. Our real rebirth is a moment by moment transformation of who and what we’ve been through our thinking. Choosing not to cling to junk….How about it ? Let’s not have any negative state push us around ! Life is much more than stress, heartache and frustration. Illuminate.

This article is so true because these lies are what people really believe. I have never really cared about getting rich, but just living comfortable.

I am moved by this young man’s story; but, even more moved that he shares what he has learned on his journey. There is no disguising a kind heart. To see someone who has attained financial freedom and to use that to help others is a tremendous inspiration. I am excited to share his story with my children. ~ a single mom

I always told my child, tell the truth and I will not punish you for it. Lies, I said to him, are so wrapped up in layers that by the time they are unfolded it may be to late to do anything about the truth. The truth simply is, and can never change. We can deal with what is and face it factually. He is now 18 and we have a very open and honest relationship.
I now teach 40 foster and financial needs kids, and I ask them “what do you fear?” I get answers like;’being homeless, being like my daddy or mama.’I tell them that those are lies and lies are made up on fears. Then I gave them your book “Reallionaire.” Now I have 40 Leaders. Thanks!

Interesting concept…never thought about it that way. The “lies’ mentioned are the same one’s I have convinced myself of for years. Thanks for the insight.

Dr. Gray strives to teach people that it doesn’t matter where you come from, what matters is that you go after your dream and love what you do. You have to find your own purpose in life. We have to learn to not listen to the negativism that others try to use to keep us down. We have nothing to fear, but fear itself. Conquering the fears can be very empowering and will lead us on the road to success as Dr. Gray talks about. He is a very inspiring man.

I have to admit that at different points in my life I have believed one or more of the 7 lies at a time. Just from reading this article I have been enlightened and inspired. I really liked when he said “luck is about showing up”. That is so true, that showing up is the first step. Thank you for this article and encouragement.

There is definite truth in the 7 lies that Mr. Gray points out in his book. I would be very interested to read the book and see his elaboraton on each of the lies and how they have been perceived to us and how we can get away and from under these lies and begin a life of being successful. His story is one of inspiration, hope, success and example of hard work and dedication. I know I have fallen victim to at least one of the 7 lies and still to this day I believe them. Society drowns our brains with these lies and makes those who don’t fit into the 7 categories believe that they will never have success or wealth. Very good article.

I have always been impressed with Mr. Gray because he defeated the major odds against himself. I have to admit I have fallen victim to a couple of these 7 lies and it will take alot not to believe them. Sometimes it just seems this is the way the world works and there is nothing we can do about it but I now know that I have to change my beliefs or I will never have the chance to be successful. I love this article and it helped me to learn to change. Congrats to you Mr. Gray for inspiring so many people to persue their goals.

I identified with many of the lies mentioned in this article, especially The Born Lucky Lie, The Work Hard Lie, and The Debt Lie. I never saw the lie of being born lucky as a lottery mentality, but I quickly saw it when it was identifed this way. Shame on me for believing this lie. The idea of overcoming these lies with mindset + strategy is intriguing. We can change our mindset but we must also be smart! Interesting stuff!

He believes and applys the 7 lies. You don’t have to be rich to be happy. I believe that. It doesn’t matter where you come from you can always improve your life and be sucessful.

What I like about Reallionaire is that it not only talks about money, but it talks about how to really find who you are outside of the money making. And it seeks to shift your thinking & how you perceive money. I need to re-read it to refresh myself on the other concepts presented. I plan to get a copy of Get Real, Get Rich… It sounds like a good follow up to Reallionaire. I’ll be back after I’ve read Get Real, Get Rich. Peace.
